Sri Lanka, Jan. 7 — Galle, Jan. 07 ()- President Ranil Wickremesinghe is in a quandary whether to announce the Presidential election or General Election first as all surveys have revealed that the National People’s Power (NPP) has a better chance ahead of other parties, NPP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.
Speaking at the Galle District Women’s Convention he said on earlier occasions the rulers had no hesitancy in announcing a Presidential or General election, but now the rulers are in a quandary over which election to announce first.
He said the NPP was ready to face any of the two elections.
Dissanayake said power should be transferred to a new group that could take the country towards a new direction.
“Even the rival groups are certain that that NPP can form a government. The NPP and the JVP have been the subject in all rival political meetings. They earlier claimed that the JVP can never form a government. Now, they have started to say the NPP cannot run a government,” he said.
