Testing of the first batch of international payloads selected under the cooperation between China and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) will soon take place on the space station Tiangong.
This was conveyed by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), namely CMSA spokesperson Lin Xiqiang at a press conference.
He added that the 10 space application projects implemented jointly with the European Space Agency (ESA) showed steady progress.
“We have carried out various exchanges and cooperation with space agencies of many countries and regions as well as international organizations involving spacecraft technology, space science experiments, and astronaut selection and training,” Lin said.
Since the implementation of its manned space program, China has sent individuals overseas to participate in zero-gravity training, cave training and Mars500 studies.
China has also led several large-scale international cooperation projects, including sea survival training for astronauts and research on cardiovascular function in zero gravity.
Shenzhou-13 crewman Ye Guangfu was the first taikonaut to complete cave training through international cooperation.
“China has so far signed cooperation framework agreements with UNOOSA, ESA, as well as the space agencies of Russia, France, Germany, Italy and Pakistan,” Lin said.
According to him, several agreements have been successfully implemented, and several cooperation projects related to the space station are being prepared.
“We welcome astronauts from other countries to carry out experiments on the Chinese space station,” Lin added.
Lin said preparations for foreign astronaut training were progressing according to plan.
