Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan opened an office in Beijing, its third after Hong Kong and Shanghai in China, expanding its presence in the Chinese market.
Liu Xiao, chair of the China practice, said the new office would always provide legal services to its Chinese clients in collaboration with other branches.
“We are powered by the firm’s unparalleled litigation resources in the US and elsewhere,” said Liu. “[They include] trade secret litigation, securities class actions, Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission investigations, patent litigation in Germany, arbitrations involving African and Latin American countries, etc.”
The step comes amid an increase in business in the China practice over the past decade. “Our firm has seen phenomenal growth in our China-related practice as cross-border disputes and government enforcement actions involving China continue to grow,” said the founder and chairman John Quinn.
Quinn Emanuel recently has two partners and around 10 lawyers in Beijing and Shanghai.
