India vs Kuwait in the South Asia Championship Final


India will meet Kuwait in the final of the 2023 SAFF South Asia Championships after picking up a tough win in the semifinals on Saturday.

Quoted by Aurora News from the official website of The AFC, India beat Lebanon 4-2 on penalties after their semifinal match ended goalless for 120 minutes.

Meanwhile, Kuwait beat Bangladesh by a score of 1-0 in their last four clash.

Both semi-finals matches were fiercely contested at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru, India and extra time was required to decide the winner in the Kuwait-Bangladesh tie.

Abdullah Ammar Abdullah’s goal just before the end of first half extra time brought Kuwait to the final.

The Lebanon-India match ended in a goalless draw after 120 minutes.

Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu saved Hassan Maatouk’s opening penalty after India captain Sunil Chhetri had given his side the lead.

Victory was finally sealed when Khalil Bader missed Lebanon’s fourth penalty kick, sealing India’s progress to the final to be held on Tuesday.
